During this 3-week program, students will explore the basics of drawing with color and color theory, while learning fundamentals like composition, line, and value. The goal is to build confidence in your skills whether you are a beginner or looking to refresh and build your foundational knowledge.

Drawing is the most valuable skill in all the visual arts and is core to many artistic disciplines. Think of drawing as the scaffolding that all art is built upon. On top of this scaffolding we will introduce the concept of using color to our drawing skill set. With a strong foundation, an idea can go from a simple sketch to a well developed idea, and to a final work of art. In this class we will focus on drawing what you see, not just what you expect to see. Instruction will include step-by-step demonstrations and individualized guidance.

If you have taken a beginners drawing class with us before, we will refresh upon the basics you previously learned and modify your project to further build upon your skills and experience.

Note: If you have any objects that you’d like to bring in for your final still-life, feel free to either bring them in or run them by us.

Ideas: shoes, mugs, flowers, etc. Items that are visually interesting!
